How to Taper & Shorten Manes
Why Does Mane Preparation Matter?
Mane preparation:
- Is the foundation of your braids.
- It makes it easier for you to braid a mane beautifully.
- It helps you avoid braiding frustration.
- And it is a time-saving step that allows you to finish braiding faster.

Create Evenly Spaced Braids
Why is Braid Spacing so Important?
Evenly spaced braids are one of the key braid characteristics that will make your braids truly standout in the show riding.
Even braid spacing is achieved by:
- pulling the mane to an even thickness (exception: thin manes are never pulled).
- using a template to consistently section the mane for each braid.
